About the Author
Terence O'Neill is now 74 years old and married with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. After his time at the Goughs, Terence remained in the care of the local authorities until he was 18. He then joined the Army for several years before his retirement.

Be prepared to cry

I wasn't prepared for this brutal, abusive story. I have read many books on child abuse and neglect, but no book has literally brought tears to my eyes. Heart breaking

Why are we still reading about children abused while "in care" ?

This well written book reminds us once again how very bad our systems are at taking care of those least able to take care or speak for themselves. I really do not think we have come that far since this story played out. Any time you have to depend on government for safety or well being there are problems. We so need to focus on education, the kind that starts in the home, starting with kindness and true regard for life. If we could do that, growing loving people who take responsibility in their world maybe we would stop growing the monsters who feed on death and destruction. Every teacher, neighbor, friend, clergyman, anyone spotting a situation that isn't quite right has a duty to not only report it but to make sure it is followed through on so that the lame excuse of " it fell through the cracks" can't be used ever again.

Lovely Biography of Susan B. Anthony.

This is a nice biography of the famous suffragette, Susan B. Anthony. It is aimed at the fifth through seventh grade level. And features nice and colorful illustrations on every page. It does a nice job of explaining her leadership role in getting the right to vote for women. And it gives a very nice historical explanation of her childhood and how her parents were forward thinking in educating both their daughters as well as their sons. It ends with her famous quote "failure is impossible" which brought tears to my eyes. And, in sum, this is a nice biograpy of one of the 19th century's most excellent champions of women's suffrage.

The book is a great introduction into the life of a very bold and brave woman. Anthony fought for women's rights and she would not see women given the right to vote. That would happen 14 years after her death. She devoted her life to fighting for women's rights. She was a great leader. Highly recommended for history fans.

A Great Category Romance

Jane Miller has been in love with Trey Breckenridge III for years, but all along he has seen her as his reliable, sensible, trustworthy secretary and no more. Times change when Trey needs to pretend he's engaged to prove to his father he has settled down in order to gain control of the company.
Trey turns to ever efficient Jane for help and she agrees to the masquerade, figuring it's as close to him as she's likely to ever get. But Trey hadn't counted on what a little make-up and some good clothes would do to Jane's appearance...
This is a very good catergory romance and is well worth the read. It could have been better if the author wrote more detailed love scenes, but the book is still a 5 without them.

Writing style is ok - plot is inconsistent

There were several inconsistencies that I found in this book that made it hard for me to get into it. I don't usually pick apart Silhouette books but these were just too glaring.
The heroine feels guilty about tricking the hero's father, starts to feel angry at the hero, and then the very same page is agreeing to continue the role with a smile, just because the hero says it's ok.
**SPOILER** The heroine convinces a client that he has to stay with the company because of the hero's commitment to the company. Then in the very next encounter with the hero, he's learned the error of his ways and is going to sell the company. Oh, good going.
All in all, the book was inconsistent but the writing itself did flow well. I would read another book by this author.

About the Author

Sarah Kane was born in 1971. Her first play, Blasted, was produced at the Royal Court Theatre Upstai rs in 1995. Her second play, Phaedra's Love, was produced at the Gate Theatre in 1996. In April 1998 , Cleansed was produced at the Royal Court Theatre Downstairs, and in September 1998, Crave was prod uced at Paines Plough and Bright Ltd at the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh. Her last play, 4.48 Psychos is, premiered at the Royal Court Jerwood Theatre Upstairs in June 2000. Her short film, Skin, produc ed by British Screen/Channel Four, premiered in June 1997. Sarah Kane died in 1999.

A brilliant modern twist on a classic Roman play that had me hooked from beginning to end. It's short, but sweet. Okay, aaaaand a bit "sour" here and there.

I don't want to say too much, but if you're a fan the original tale (or classic tragedies in general) and have a bit of an open mind, then you will love Sarah Kane's rendition of Seneca's "Phaedra."

If you've never read the original. this remake is still worth a read.

BUYER BEWARE! Not English-only book!

I ordered this book, thinking it would be in English. When I received it, however, it was a dual language book, with both English and Chinese. The description says nothing about this, but the image shows what it looks like. It ends up being quite befuddling to the eye to have 2 languages right under one another. For a book that's meant as a learning/tongue-twister book that's meant to be read quickly, it makes it far too confusing.

I was able to get a refund, however.

Seuss's best book

This is really Dr. Seuss's best book - some of the others, although hailed as works of absolute genius, show signs of the good doctor being somewhat high on his own supply. But here we have a book that is absolutely entertaining, and in a way educational: the dedication to educators at the Soledad Lingual Laboratories sparked my interest in linguistics when I was still very young. Whatever your age, break this book out at a party and pass it around, taking turns reading it out loud. Talk about good, clean fun! It also works well with foreigners learning English.

Another great addition to our Dr. Seuss collection!

This is the third Dr. Suess book I have purchased for my boys ages 6 and 7. I love these books for them to enjoy reading and identifying word families and rhyming words. There are so many fun reinforcement activities you can do with this book and other Dr. Seuss books. I personally like Dr. Seuss and I am glad to add Fox in Socks to our collection, and I plan to continue buying more Dr. Seuss books!

Why make it easy for the reader and come to the point? The authors of this book just use too many words. It is a waste of time to read all this blah, blah, blah. The concepts are easy in themselves.
